Preliminary Task

We have been given our preliminary task, the task involves filming and editing a character. This character must:
  • Open a door
  • Cross a room
  • Sit down in a chair opposite another character.

They should then exchange dialouge with this second character. The task needs to demonstrate and include match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.

Within this task a rough story board will be completed, and also a final edited piece. There are four members of my group, including me, the other members are: Tyshea Holden, Jade Kernohan, and Anna Thompson.

We have taken all of our photos for our story board, we just need to put it all together. We have also done most of our filming, but we we still need to do a couple more shots to make sure that we meet the criteria.

In our group, we decided to do a drug scene in the public toilets. We tried to include all requirements and specifications. The set in which we chose to work with however, was a very small space which made what we were able to do quite limited, for example the 180 degree rule. We decided to do this as we thought it fitted in with the world today and stereotypical teenage lives. This resulted in our piece being aimed at a young adult/teenage audience as they are most likely to be albe to relate to it.

After filming our piece, we had problems putting it onto the computer using Adobe premiere pro, but mangaged to after a short while. We then edited our peice, we cut out the bits that we didn't need or that we had to do again so that our continuity was improved and we added in certain transitions to show the desired atmosphere.

We had problems editing the sound of our peice as the speakers on the computer didn't work, so we couldn't hear what needed to be taked out or emphasised.

I have learnt from doing this task, that in the tasks to follow, I need to make sure that all equiptment is working properly to ensure that we are able to meet all expectations and produce our piece to a satisfying standard.
